Vote by August 11th!
Focused on the Fifth
a lifelong progressive Democrat running in the August 11th DFL Primary against Ilhan Omar in Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District. My wife, Dr. Genevieve Melton-Meaux, and I live in the Uptown-East Isles neighborhood of Minneapolis with our two incredible children, Ava and Xavier, both of whom attend Minneapolis Public Schools.
Today’s politics are divisive and hyper-partisan. We need people in Congress who want to get things done—not who get distracted fighting with Donald Trump on Twitter or even with their own party. I’ll do the hard work that comes along with the demands of public office, while remaining Focused On The Fifth. I’m dedicated to service, not celebrity.
A true progressive is committed to progress not perfection. When we demand ideological purity, we leave out so many who would otherwise join us, and we weaken our movement. That hurts all of us. That’s the politics of division. Finding common ground and building broad coalitions is how we deliver real, lasting results. I do this work everyday as a mediator and civic leader. And that’s what progress is—getting lasting results that lift all of us up.
The Fifth is a special district—with a rich diversity of people, experiences, and ideas. I believe we’re at our best when we incorporate all of our voices into collective action. We all deserve and should have access to affordable housing, quality healthcare, a living wage, safe neighborhoods, and clean air and water. I’ll be a fierce advocate for these issues and fight for equity for all of us.
I’m running for Congress because I believe every person in the Fifth needs and deserves a representative who will show up, listen, and do the work with integrity and accountability. You are my focus. And as your next congressperson, I am and will always be Focused On The Fifth.
I can’t wait to get to know you, learn from you, and partner with you for the future we all deserve!
From day one, I’m dedicated to making sure every voice is heard because every voice matters. Throughout my campaign, I look forward to getting to know you and how I can best serve you in Congress.
